Accessible holiday lodge in Murcia for wheelchair users
A step-free wooden lodge at Áureo Natura, in the Ricote Valley: everything on one level, a ramp up to the door, a roll-in shower and room to turn a wheelchair in the bedroom and the bathroom. Under an hour from Murcia–Corvera airport.
Booking accessible accommodation abroad usually ends the same way: a box that says "adapted", a booking site that cannot answer, and an email to a hotel in a language you do not speak. Will the wheelchair fit through the door? What is the shower like? Can I get into the water? Here we answer before you have to ask, in English, with what we have and also with what we do not. This is the lodge adapted for guests with reduced mobility at Áureo Natura, in Abarán, at the foot of the Ricote Valley in inland Murcia.
Inside the lodge
Inside the wheelchair-accessible lodge
You come in up a ramp, with no step at the door. Inside you can move around on your own, because everything is on the same level and there is room to turn a wheelchair in both the bedroom and the bathroom. Where there used to be a small step between areas, it has been replaced with a ramp.
The accessible bathroom
It is usually what decides the booking, so here it is in detail:
- Roll-in shower, level with the floor, with no lip to get over.
- Fixed fold-down shower seat that adapts to what you need.
- Grab rails.
- Toilet at an accessible height, with room for a side transfer.
- Interior doors 1.50 m wide, with clear passage for a wheelchair.
The bedroom
There is clear space on both sides of the bed, so you can get in from whichever side suits you. Everything is on the same floor, with no changes of level inside.
The lodge sleeps up to 7 people: it is one of our wooden lodges, in its accessible version.
Step-free access
Arriving: from the airport to the door
Region of Murcia International Airport (Corvera) is 64 km away, under an hour by car, and Alicante–Elche is 104 km away, about an hour and a quarter; both have car hire in the arrivals hall. Here you park a few metres from the door: there is a reserved space for guests with reduced mobility and room beside the lodge itself, with easy access. The route combines tarmac with some stretches of firm ground, all paved or easy to cross, with no steep slopes. Reception is step-free, and you can get around the shared areas of the site in a wheelchair.
from the accessible lodge to the restaurant, pool, spa and accessible toilets.
to the children's play area.
The full route by car, plane, train or bus is on our how to get to Áureo Natura page.
Swimming and the spa
Yes, you can get into the water
The private spa has a pool hoist to help you into the water, and the children's pool has a ramp.
So yes, you can have a swim.
We will not dress it up: the large outdoor pool (open from June to September) has no ramp or hoist into the water.
If you use a wheelchair, the spa hoist is the way into the water.

Seasons
When to come
In summer this lodge books up early. In spring and autumn it is almost always free, and the whole site is quieter, so it is easier to get around at your own pace. If you can travel outside the high season, that is when you will enjoy it most. Planning a longer stay in Spain? Tell us your dates on WhatsApp and we will check the lodge for you.
